Young journalists gathered at Šabac workshop introduced with Pulse of Europe project

Participants of the project "Young Media - Media for Youth and with Youth", gathered at a seminar in Šabac, were among the first journalists that were introduced with the new EU media support project Pulse of Europe - Media Trips to EU.

Young journalists participating in the one-week seminar (Young media lab) had the opportunity to learn about activities planned within the project Pulse of Europe, on Wednesday, 26 February 2020. Project director Frank Baumann and projecleader Marina Rakić presented a media travel plan, as well as a plan of a series of debates on European topics that would be organied in the next two and a half years of the project implementation.

Media trips to EU member states are open to all media in Serbia that respect the Code of Ethics Code and professional and ethical standards in their work, project leader Marina Rakić said. She invited young journalists to follow the Call or Proposals, which will always be open, and to apply by sending their suggestions of reporting topics that they would cover in EU countries.

The Pulse of Europe project started in February 2020 and will last until August 2022. The project is funded by the European Union and implemented by the Goethe Institute in cooperation with the Independent Association of Journalists of Serbia and the Center for Cultural Decontamination.

At least 20 media visits from Serbia to European countries will be organised during the project. Media visits will last 3-4 days during which journalists realise their reports/articles. Media travel participants - journalists of electronic, print and online media will receive full organisational and logistical support of the project during media visits. In addition to these activities, organisation of several visits of journalists from European countries to Serbia is planned, as well as debates on European topics throughout Serbia.

The project "Young Media - Media for and with Youth" is implemented by the Media Association, Local Press, Press Council, Deutsche Welle Academy and the Serbian Youth National Council (KOMS).  Apart from journalists from Serbia, young journalists from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro are also participating in the project.
